There has never been a more fitting first class Hall of Fame than the duo of Burkhart/McDonough. These players exemplify class, grace, sportsmanship, and winning. The bar has truly been set by these first time (and the only unanimous selection receiving 100% of the votes).
Elected by the narrowest of margins for both of these Hall of Fame members doesn't matter. They are now in the Hall of Fame.
Cobain took over a successful tournament, built a new sports complex and became a champion. Receiving 81% of the vote, his place in history is now set
While Sawin took a different route to the Hall of Fame, it doesn't matter he barely received the 78% of votes necessary for induction. Van received 78.01% of the vote and becomes a Hall of Fame member.
"The Colonel" as most know him never had the opportunity to play in the Oakbrook Invitational. He relocated on the other side of the United States to be with his bride. Leaving behind a legacy that will never be filled.
A man who has served his community, country and more importantly the cornhole community of Oakbrook.
The Hall of Fame Committee voted to re-name the Hall of Fame Trophy in Colonel Edwards honor so that all members will appreciate that honor even more.
An honor that is long over due for the 2x time back to back winner Tim Bunch. Known on the circuit as the Silent Assassin, Tim has become a well respected player and teammate. Along with his corporate sponsorship contributions he continues to serve the Oakbrook Invitational.
Kerry Fabricius took the long route to the Hall of Fame. Literally. Coming from New Zealand on a boat, this player has rocketed up the ranks in cornhole circuits. Becoming a champion in 2020 and now a Hall of Fame nod in 2021 Fabricius's star won't stop there.
In one of the tightest ballots in years, Mr. Oscar West proved that he is worthy of the Hall of Fame according the the Oakbrook Hall of Fame Committee.
Known as the Gentle Giant on the circuit, you are sure to get a hug from this magnanimous competitor.
Oscar's enshrinement is also a first. Oscar is the very first South Carolina Gamecock to be voted in.
There really is no other person to put into this year's Hall of Fame. We tragically lost our friend in February 2023.
Not only does he become the sole inductee this year, the player's Championship Trophy will now be known as the, 'Mac McTernen Memorial Championship Trophy'.
While it is true that based on his play, the only time he would have ever seen a Championship Trophy would have been when our Board of Directors was handing it to the winners.
This is now his honor and his name will be on every Championship Trophy.
For the first time in Oakbrook Invitational at Chamber's Bay history, 3 players were elected into the Hall of Fame.
Dr. Curt Oland joins his legendary partner, Oscar West in this exclusive club.
Mr. Darren Ewer also joins his partner Kerry Fabricius in the hallowed halls of the Hall of Fame.
Finally, Mr. Jason Finley has been voted into the Hall of Fame for his years of competition, leadership, and his exemplary attitude in promoting the tournament.
